A note on prenatal meetings and childbirth education

I am available by text or phone call to all of my clients from the moment of hire. Prenatal meetings are a mix of in-person and virtual. Both the Prepared Birth and Simply Birth packages come with a licensed, virtual childbirth class by Intentional Birth. This class has it all! Twelve modules, 20+ hours of instruction, and a 200 page parent handbook. We will go over this material and your resulting questions in our prenatal meetings. From my Body Ready Method training, I also love to incorporate movement sessions in order to assess alignment and address aches and pains. I will create an individualized movement plan of gentle exercises to alleviate pain.

Prenatal Support

Up to 5 Meetings

A prenatal meeting can be a walk in the park, a coffee date, a virtual visit, a body alignment session, or a labor rehearsal in your home. These visits are tailored to you, to your needs and to your comfortability. A prenatal meeting is your chance to talk about all things birth. I want to hear what you value the most in pregnancy, what your birth goals are, and how I might best support you and your partner. Additional practical topics covered in prenatal meetings include birth plans, comfort measures, partner support, inductions, and tools for advocacy.

In conjunction, I also offer an exceptional Childbirth Education class taught by Intentional Birth. I find it to be the most comprehensive childbirth class available with excellent resources and a wonderful parent handbook. This invaluable online class covers pregnancy, labor, birth, interventions, newborn care, postpartum, breastfeeding and more!

Labor and Birth Support

Once you reach your 38 week milestone, I am on call 24/7 until birth. I typically join clients when they are in active labor, whether in their home or at the hospital or birth center. Some examples of labor support are comfort measures, optimal positioning, nutrition, gauging when to go to the hospital, and general clean up and assistance. Based on your preferences, I can be very involved or simply hold space for you on your journey. I can facilitate communication between you, your partner, and your medical providers. After your precious baby arrives, I will remain with you for up to two hours in order to ensure your new family is stable and well.

Postpartum Support

Up to 2 Meetings

Here is your chance to ask any or all of the baby questions that have suddenly appeared! We can debrief your birth experience and/or discuss any issues that have arisen over your first days back at home. Postpartum visits last one to two hours. My first visit will be a check-in. My second visit will be with a meal for your family and hopes to fold a load of laundry or wash pump parts while we chat or while you take a nap.
